Regarding the name of the dance, it is stated that the name is Slavic and indicates the movement of the dance that is dragged right and left in straight sections [bai = sideways, duskos = straight]. It is also said that it is a compound word from the Turkish [paitak = lame] and the Slavic ending -ouska.
