It is called Zervodexos because it is danced sometimes in a direction to the left (zerva) and sometimes in a direction to the right, giving a comical and cheerful tone to the dance that matches that of Carnival. While playing the theme, the lyre player suddenly plays a specific high note, causing the dancers to change direction.
